Accessibility.
How to access our services. We're committed to being upfront about the barriers at our clinic and offering ways around them - including telehealth, in-home visits, and flexible appointment formats for people with different access needs.
This page sets out the physical and practical realities of accessing Ivy Psychology, and the alternatives we offer when our clinic isn't the right fit. If you have an access need we haven't addressed here, please get in touch - we'd rather hear from you before you book than have you turn up to a barrier we could have worked around.
01Our Randwick clinic
Our clinic is on the second floor of a building without lift access. The only way in is up two flights of stairs. If stairs are a barrier - temporarily or permanently - please don't come to the clinic. We'll arrange another way to work with you (see below).
Address: Suite 5, Level 2, 126–128 Avoca Street, Randwick NSW 2031.
What you'll find at the clinic:
- Two flights of stairs from street level to our suite, with a handrail
- No lift, ramp, or step-free entry
- A small waiting area with seating
- Bathrooms on the middle floor between ground level and our suite (not wheelchair-accessible)
- Free street parking on Avoca Street and surrounding streets (mix of 1-hour, 2-hour, and all-day zones)
- 5 minute walk from Randwick Light Rail (step-free from the platform; the route to the clinic is along a footpath with kerb ramps)
- Buses 339, 372, 373, 374 stop within a 3 minute walk
The building itself is heritage-style. We don't own it and can't modify it. We've explored ground-floor and accessible premises in the local area; suitable consulting spaces have not been available within our budget. We're transparent about this because we'd rather work with you in a way that suits your access needs than ask you to manage stairs that don't work for your body.
02Alternative ways to access us
If the Randwick clinic doesn't work for you, the following options are available - at no additional cost and with no compromise to the clinical care you receive.
To set up an alternative, mention your preference when you submit a referral form, or call our admin team on 0405 944 637. We'll match you with a clinician who works the way you need.
03Sensory considerations
Our consulting rooms are quiet and use natural lighting where possible. We can adjust the environment to suit you:
- Soft lighting and dimmable downlights - no overhead fluorescents
- Ample natural light with adjustable blinds
- Fidget items, weighted blankets, and sensory tools available in most rooms
- Permission to move, stand, walk, or sit on the floor during sessions - whatever helps you regulate
- Quiet waiting time without small talk if that's easier
- Written communication during sessions (notes, typing, drawing) if speaking is hard
Tell your clinician what helps you. There's nothing you can ask for that we'll think is unusual.
04Communication access
Languages other than English
Several of our clinicians speak languages other than English, including Italian, Arabic, Farsi, Polish, Vietnamese, and Welsh (subject to clinician availability). Check individual clinician profiles for current languages.
For other languages, we can arrange interpreters through the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National), which is free for clients accessing certain services. Mention this need when you book and we'll organise it before your first session.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients
We can book Auslan interpreters via the National Auslan Interpreter Booking Service (NABS) for eligible appointments. Telehealth sessions can include a third-party interpreter, or written/text-based communication if preferred.
AAC and non-speaking clients
We work with clients who use AAC devices, text-based communication, or other alternatives to speech. Behaviour support assessment and intervention often involves observation and communication-partner work rather than relying on verbal report.
05Support people & assistance animals
You're welcome to bring a support person to any appointment - a family member, friend, support worker, advocate, or NDIS support coordinator. If you'd like them to be involved in the session, let your clinician know; if you'd just like them present in the waiting area, that's fine too.
Assistance animals are welcome at the clinic and during in-home or telehealth sessions. Please let us know in advance so the room is set up appropriately.
06NDIS participants
We are a registered NDIS provider for behaviour support and psychology services. The stairs at our Randwick clinic mean it isn't accessible for all participants - but our service delivery is. Most of our NDIS work happens through in-home visits, community settings, and telehealth, not in our consulting rooms.
For participants with mobility needs, we will deliver services in your home, school, day program, supported accommodation, or another setting that works for you. This is standard practice for our team.
If you have questions about how we'll deliver supports to you specifically, please contact our admin team - we'll talk through the options before you commit.
07Website accessibility
We've tried to build this website to be usable for everyone. Specifically:
- Pages work without JavaScript-heavy interactions for core information
- Text uses adequate contrast against background colours (target: WCAG 2.1 AA)
- All images include alt text describing their content or purpose
- Forms are keyboard-navigable and screen-reader compatible
- No auto-playing video or audio, no flashing content
- You can resize text up to 200% without breaking the layout
If something on this website is hard to access - broken, confusing, or incompatible with assistive technology - please let us know (see Feedback below). We'll fix it.
08Feedback & requests
We don't always get this right. If we've missed something, or if you have an access need we haven't covered, please tell us. Three ways to do it:
- Email admin@ivypsychology.com.au directly
- Submit our anonymous feedback form
- Call us on 0405 944 637 during business hours
You can also raise concerns about NDIS service delivery directly with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. We will not retaliate against anyone who makes a complaint and we treat all access feedback as a chance to do better.
